Intro to 2009

Last night, I went with my wife and some friends to see a fireworks show in San Destin, FL. While most fireworks shows are great, this one was especially spectacular, but not because of the occasion. The coolest part about this show was the timing with the music. When the clock struck 12, AC/DC’s “For Those About To Rock” was playing and whenever they said “FIRE!” these red streamers would blast out of their armed barrels and then explode in the New Year sky. It was so awesome because we were standing right underneath them and it made us all pumped to be there.

While the rest of the fireworks show continued, I watched as other people were celebrating with laughs, yells, and lots of kissing. I saw them bring in the New Year with smiles that were undoubtably conceived from the idea that they were starting over. This was great to see.

For me, however, it’s never really been a time to change things. It’s been more of a time to continue them. You see, I know of so many who will wait until New Years Day to makes amazing changes; perhaps out of the Occasion’s peer pressure. Not only that, but think about the stigma that “New Years resolutions” have. Do most of them ever really last?

Why not make changes in your life when you see the need for them? Why not right then? Need to say “I love you” more, but you’re caught in the middle of July? Change. Need to loose weight, but can’t because it’s only March? Change. What about money? If you’re in debt, the 21st of September, is just as good as the 1st of January.

Change.

Make it a part of your life. Some habits are hard to start, yet great to have. Change is one of them. Try to better yourself. Be happier. Make the best moments possible. Don’t forget to share them with others as well.
